Hello… Again!

Hi everyone! After The Shepherd took a short hiatus last semester, we are back in business! New semester, new staff, same great content.

We thought it would be appropriate to give a quick introduction for each of our editors this semester as our kick off. Say hello to the Spring 2020 Sheepshead Review editors!

Zach Schneider – Editor-in-Chief

Zach is a senior double-majoring in English with an emphasis in Literature and Creative Writing, and in Humanities with an emphasis in Digital and Public Humanities, and a minor in education. He is also earning his BFA in Writing and Applied Arts.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: Best thing about working for SHR is gaining real world experience that will help me after college and the amazing people I get to work with. 

Fun Fact: I’m a twin!

Morgan Johnson – Co-Managing Editor

Morgan is a junior earning her BFA in Writing and Applied Arts with a minor in Arts Management.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: Getting to know people on staff.

Fun Fact: I went on two cruises with the band Paramore. The cruise is called Parahoy. I met the band, watched them perform, and visited Cozumel and Nassau. When I got home after the second one I got a tattoo inspired by my trips. 

Josh Konecke – Co-Managing Editor

Josh is a senior-double majoring in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing, and Communications with an emphasis journalism, sports communication, and social media.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: Working with others that are equally passionate about writing.

Fun Fact: I am extremely competitive about anything.

August Wiegman – Assistant Managing Editor & Assistant Copy Editor

August is a junior earning their BFA in Writing and Applied Arts with a minor in Spanish and Latin American Studies.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: I enjoy being on the Sheepshead staff because this opportunity gives me the chance to build experience working hands-on behind the scenes of a literary journal.

Fun Fact: I have six cats and two dogs at home that I miss dearly when I’m away at university!

Abby Erb – Layout Editor

Abby is a senior majoring in Design Arts with a Studio Arts minor.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: Learning about all the different parts that go into making a journal publication!

Fun Fact: I love dogs! I have two, Ducky and Lucy.

Halee Stewart – Web Editor & Assistant Copy Editor

Halee will be graduating in December of 2020 with a double-major of English and Psychology along with a minor in Education.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: My favorite thing about Sheepshead is learning more about the publishing process. Reading and writing have always been huge interests of mine; it’s an amazing opportunity being able to apply these interests while working with the nonfiction staff.

Fun Fact: I spent a semester working at Walt Disney World.

Rianna Kubly – Publicity Director/Outreach Coordinator

Rianna is a senior majoring in English with minors in Human Development and Education.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: I love being on a staff that allows people to share their art!

Fun Fact: I have over 32 pet fish and counting!

Kira Doman – Social Media Editor & Assistant Copy Editor

Kira is a junior majoring in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing, and hopes to also major in Communications with an emphasis in Journalism.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: The experience I am getting in the editing and publication field. I am really enjoying reviewing unpublished works and I hope to work professionally in this field someday!

Fun Fact: I have recently completed a semester abroad in Scotland, and hope to return to the UK soon for graduate school.

Rachel Sankey – Blog Editor

Rachel is a sophomore earning her BFA in Writing in Applied Arts with a minor in Spanish and Latin American Studies.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: I love being a part of something much greater than I am. It’s very rewarding.

Fun Fact: I love typewriters! I own five of them, have a typewriter tattoo on my arm, and have watched California Typewriter about four times now.

Brooke Poarch – Chief Copy Editor

Brooke is a junior majoring in both Writing and Applied Arts and English with a double emphasis in Creative Writing and Literature, and a minor in chemistry.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: I love working for Sheepshead because it allows me to connect with other people who are just as passionate about writing as I am. I also love getting to read original works, because I know that some short stories I read today might be coming from tomorrow’s next bestselling author

Fun Fact: I run a writing and book based account on Instagram in my free time! You can find me @hiddenintheshelves.

Dorothy Metz – Fiction Editor

Dorothy is a senior majoring in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing, and will be returning for another year.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: Finally getting the journal in my hands. It’s that moment where you finally get to see all of your hard work from the semester pay off in something that is just beautiful.

Fun Fact: I have never been outside of the Midwest and the farthest I’ve gone out of the Midwest would be upper Michigan.

Eddie Johnson – Nonfiction Editor

Eddie is a senior majoring in English Literature with a minor in Film Studies.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: I really like hearing the different perspectives everyone brings to discussions. Sheepshead is a journal for many types of people, and to hear those perspectives is to ensure our target audience is being represented.

Fun Fact: An interesting fact about me is that I think screenplays are some of the best kinds of mediums for writing since it’s all based on dialogue to drive the plot.

Garrett Dietz – Poetry Editor

Garrett is a senior majoring in English Creative Writing.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: The amount of fun we have as a staff.

Fun Fact: I’m a pilot.

Delaney Langenberg – Visual Arts Editor

Delaney is a senior majoring in Design Arts and History.

Why do you love working for Sheepshead?: Getting to view all of the submissions we get.

Fun Fact: I absolutely love cats.
