A New Voice

A New Voice

Hi everyone! It’s been quite a while since we’ve last connected with all of you, but we have some exciting news to share. As the staff for this issue of Sheepshead Review kicks the semester off with brand new editors and an amazing theme for the upcoming issue, we are bringing some new voices, new looks, new perspectives, and new content to the blog, but as well as the journal, and our website. Exciting right? It’s no secret that we’ve all faced a challenging year, so hopefully, new posts to this blog can bring you a sense of normalcy, or maybe something to look forward to! And I find that it is only fair to introduce myself to you all, so you know who is bringing you the awesome content for this blog.

I am The Shepard’s new blog writer! My name is Carlyn Lowe, and I am a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. I am a double major in both Democracy and Justice Studies and English with a Creative Writing emphasis. My ultimate career goal is to attend law school and become a human rights lawyer. While I do have a passion for civil rights and social justice, writing has always been a huge part of my life. I started writing stories when I was in the sixth grade, and ever since I completed that story – that wasn’t even shared with the class, I was heartbroken – I knew that I had found my hobby, my escape, my thing. It made me happy to sit down and write something that had come from my own creation, and even though I was dead set on becoming a lawyer, my heart still yearned for writing. That feeling led me to declare English as my double major, and now, I can confidently say that I am doing two of the things I love: writing and studying law.

So, you could imagine my excitement when I was offered the position of blog writer. This gives me the chance to connect with all of you lovely writers, artists, Sheepshead Review enthusiasts, and anyone who has a deep love for the art of creation, and the art of inspiration. This also gives me the amazing opportunity to be a part of a journal that brings joy to so many, and this gives me the chance to share what I love to do with all of you. I cannot wait to post more content on this blog! I hope that you enjoy it, and I hope that you all are excited that we are back in business!
